悉尼·塞西尔·纽曼
个人简介
悉尼·塞西尔·纽曼（1917年4月1日—1997年10月30日）是加拿大电影电视制作人，在20世纪50年代末至60年代末期间对英国电视剧发展作出了开创性贡献。1970年返回加拿大后，纽曼被任命为加拿大广播电视委员会广播节目部代理总监，随后出任加拿大国家电影局主席。他曾在加拿大电影发展公司、加拿大广播公司担任高级职务，并担任国务部长顾问。 20世纪五六十年代在英国期间，他先供职于联合英国公司（现泰晤士电视台），1962年转至英国广播公司，在这两家机构均担任戏剧部总监。此间他主导开创了两档风靡全国的电视节目——科幻谍战剧《复仇者》与科幻系列剧《神秘博士》，并监制了《扶手椅剧院》《周三剧场》等突破性社会现实主义剧集。 广播通信博物馆评价纽曼为“英国电视剧发展史上最具影响力的推动者”。《卫报》在讣告中称：“在这短暂而辉煌的十年间，悉尼·纽曼堪称英国最重要的文化推手……他的逝世不仅标志着一个时代的终结，更意味着一套大众艺术哲学体系的消逝。” 在魁北克担任国家电影局专员期间，他因压制多位法裔加拿大导演涉及政治敏感题材影片的发行而引发争议。
